About Knight West

Knight West Construction, Inc. began operation in 1987 as a joint venture of Wayne Knight Construction and William G. West Construction. In 1991 it was incorporated in the State of Utah and has operated as a Subchapter S Corporation since that time. Knight West presently has five stockholders, Carl B. Baldwin, Douglas L. Weight, John G. Gagon, William G. West, and William J. Young each of whom own twenty percent of the common stock. All five are actively involved in the day to day operations of Knight West Construction as well as other business entities related to home building that are owned and operated by the five owners.

Carl B. Baldwin

Mr. Baldwin has been a licensed general contractor for over 30 years, in Nevada, Alaska and Utah. He also has operated as a framing contractor for many years with experience on all sizes of residences and significant commercial experience as well. He attended Ricks College & University of Nevada at Reno. He is responsible for the construction part of Knight West.

Douglas L. Weight

Mr. Weight has been in sales and sales management for over 30 years as well as significant general management experience in a metal fabrication business and in multiple computer businesses. He has been associated with Knight West Construction for several years and has been full time since early 1997. He has a B.S. degree from Brigham Young University. Mr. Weight is a licensed real estate agent and is responsible for Knight West sales.

John G. Gagon

Mr. Gagon is a licensed general contractor and has been in the construction business for over 20 years.  In addition to many years in general contracting, he has significant experience as a framing contractor and an excavation contractor.  He attended Utah Valley State College.  Mr. Gagon now is running Timp Ridge Excavation Company, which is an affiliate of Knight West.

William G. West

Mr. West has been a licensed general contractor for nearly 25 years in Florida and then Utah.  He has several years experience in the savings and loan industry and many years in the computer business.  He has a B.S. Degree from Brigham Young University and an M.B.A. Degree from the University of Texas.  He is responsible for the financial part of Knight West as well as land acquisition and development.

William J. Young

Mr. Young has been associated with Knight West Construction since 1998.  He received his B.S. Degree and attended graduate school in business at Brigham Young University.  Mr. Young is a licensed real estate broker working as the principle broker for Land Rock Realty, one of the companies associated with Knight West Construction companies.  He has been involved in sales and business ownership for over 25 years.

Knight West has been primarily a single family residence builder, constructing homes in most of the cities in Utah County and a few in adjacent counties.  In the last 18 years, Knight West has become more involved in commercial and industrial construction while still remaining active in the residential marketplace as well.  Knight West has been involved in several Design Building Contracts, three with Alpine Credit Union, Apartment complexes, City Side Office Complex, and Industrial Buildings.  Nearly all of Knight West’s construction projects are pre-sold or on contract. 

Carl Baldwin (Owner) has been the Project Manager and Layne Atwood has been the Job Superintendent for the past 19 years.
